A Local Story Born from the Ocean

For Wayan Pande, the ocean has never been just a place to work. It has always been a part of life.

Growing up around Sanur, Bali, Wayan developed a deep connection with the sea and the local waters. Over the years, that connection grew into a passion for surfing, wind, waves and watersports.

His journey eventually led him to kitesurfing — a sport that combines wind, water, balance and freedom. What started as a personal passion became a serious pursuit of skill, experience and competition.

From Rider to Competitor

As Wayan progressed in kitesurfing, he began challenging himself beyond regular sessions on the water.

His experience riding the Sanur coastline helped him understand the local wind, currents, tides and changing ocean conditions. This knowledge became an important part of his development as a kitesurfer.

In August 2022, Wayan competed in the Kitesurf Marathon during the AstraPay Sanur Village Festival.

The marathon course started at Hyatt Beach, continued south toward Semawang, then returned north before finishing at Segara Beach.

Wayan Pande finished 1st Place in the Marathon Kite Surfing competition, ahead of Komang Pande in second place and Adi Firmansyah in third. The competition attracted around 40 kitesurfers.

This achievement became one of the important milestones in Wayan's kitesurfing journey and reflects his experience and connection with the waters of Sanur.

From Athlete to Instructor

For Wayan, kitesurfing was never only about competition.

The more he learned, the more he wanted to share the experience with other people.

That same philosophy became the foundation of Sanur Surf & Kitesurf School — helping visitors experience Bali's ocean in a safe, personal and authentic way.

Today, Wayan combines his local knowledge, ocean experience and coaching approach to help beginners and experienced riders enjoy the water with confidence.

Sanur Surf & Kitesurf School grew from a simple love for the ocean and a desire to share that passion with people visiting Bali.

Based at Merta Sari Beach in Sanur, the school has developed from a small local surf community into a watersports school offering surfing, kitesurfing, foiling and other ocean experiences.

The philosophy is simple:

Learn safely. Ride with confidence. Enjoy the ocean.

The school welcomes complete beginners as well as riders who want to improve their technique and progress to the next level.

More Than a Kitesurf School

Wayan's work is about more than teaching a sport. It is about sharing the Sanur lifestyle, introducing visitors to the ocean, supporting the local community and creating genuine connections through watersports.

Surfing, kitesurfing and foiling have become different expressions of the same passion — the ocean.

Sanur Surf & Kitesurf School also believes in giving back to the environment through community activities and ocean clean-ups.

From riding the waters of Sanur as a local kitesurfer to standing on the podium as a Kitesurf Marathon champion, Wayan Pande's journey continues.

Today, he remains active in the ocean and continues sharing his knowledge through Sanur Surf & Kitesurf School.

His goal is simple:

To help more people discover the freedom, confidence and happiness that can be found on the ocean.
